Ganesh Chaturthi: Famous Ganpati Temples of India

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is starting from 10th September. It is a major festival of Hindus, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi. According to the Puranas, Lord Ganesha was born on this day. Although this festival is celebrated all over the country, but people in Maharashtra celebrate it with great pomp. On this occasion, large idols of Lord Ganesha are installed at many prominent places. Many people even install the idol of Ganesha in their homes and worship them. Apart from this, a large number of people also visit the temples of Lord Ganesha located across the country to offer prayers. Siddhivinayak Temple is very famous as the temple of Lord Ganesha. Apart from this, he has many ancient temples, where devotees go to pray for the relief of their sufferings.

Shri Siddhivinayak Temple
This is the most famous of all the temples of Lord Ganesha across the country. Located in Mumbai, this temple is counted among the richest temples in India. Big Bollywood stars also come to this temple to pay their respects with their wishes.

Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Temple
This temple of Lord Ganesha is one of the most popular temples in Maharashtra. This temple in Pune was built by Dagdusheth Halwai, hence the name Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Mandir. It is said that Lord Ganesha fulfills the wishes of every devotee who comes here.

Kanipakam Vinayaka Temple, Chittoor
This temple is located in Kanipakam village in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The temple is said to have been established by the Chola king Kulothunga Chola I in the early 11th century, while it was expanded in the Vijayanagara Empire in 1336 AD.

Manakula Vinayaka Temple, Puducherry
This temple of Ganesh ji is considered to be one of the oldest temples in India. Its history dates back to the year 1666. It is said that earlier there was a lot of sand around the idol of Ganesh ji, that is why people started calling him Manakula Vinayagar.

This temple is situated on a hill about seven kilometers from Gangtok, the capital of the north-eastern state of Sikkim, India. Although this temple is very small in size, but its roof is huge, from where the beautiful view of Gangtok city can be seen.
