The Haryana government on Sunday decided to extend the COVID lockdown period by 15 days and allowed the relaxations given earlier to continue. Restaurants, bars, malls, clubhouses and shops are allowed to open in the state.
Chief Secretary Vijay Vardhan has said in an order issued on Sunday, “Extension of ‘Pandemic Alert Safe Haryana’ in the state of Haryana for the next fortnight, from August 23 (at 5 pm) to September 6 (up to 5 in the morning). are given. Along with this, the guidelines given in the orders issued earlier will be implemented.
The orders were issued under the Disaster Management Act 2005. Among the activities that were allowed earlier were the conduct of entrance or recruitment examinations conducted by various universities, institutions or government departments. The order said that all instructions regarding social distancing, cleanliness and seating capacity will have to be followed.
Vice-Chancellors of state universities have been advised to make a plan for reopening universities from the next academic session and share the schedule with the concerned department of the state government.
The state government has named the lockdown as ‘Pandemic Alert Safe Haryana’. The lockdown was first imposed on May 3, which was later extended on a weekly basis. However, from August 9, it was extended for a fortnight.
After the arrival of 19 new cases of Kovid-19 in Haryana on Saturday, the total number of infected people had increased to 7,70,331, while the death toll reached 9,666 due to the death of one patient.
Kovid-19 patient died in Karnal district. According to the bulletin, six new cases of infection were reported from Gurugram and three from Panchkula. According to the bulletin, the number of patients under treatment for Kovid-19 in Haryana has increased to 675.
