Los Angeles wildfires

At least five people have tragically died, and more than 1,000 structures have been destroyed as wildfires fueled by the powerful Santa Ana winds swept through the Los Angeles area. Thousands of residents have been forced to flee their homes as flames engulfed neighborhoods, including the iconic Hollywood Hills.

California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency to tackle the escalating crisis. Over 1,400 firefighters are on the ground, with reinforcements arriving from Oregon to combat the inferno. High winds, gusting up to 70 mph (112 kph), initially grounded aerial firefighting efforts but resumed by Wednesday morning, allowing aircraft to drop water and fire retardants to contain the flames.

The fires, which started on Tuesday, quickly spread through smoke-filled canyons and celebrity neighborhoods, displacing families and destroying cherished landmarks.
