India Monsoon Update

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places with light to moderate rain in many states in the country today. Gangetic West Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, parts of Nagaland, Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, parts of Odisha, isolated parts of Telangana, parts of Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa , Uttarakhand and Andaman and Nicobar Islands with light to moderate rain with heavy rain at a few places.

Apart from this, light to moderate rain may also occur in Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat region, Southeast and East Rajasthan, parts of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, parts of Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep today. Along with Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Saurashtra, there is a possibility of light rain in Kutch today.

According to the IMD, the south-west monsoon has now dominated the states of the north-west region of the country, due to which there is a possibility of heavy rain here in the next few days. The IMD said that Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand may receive heavy rains till August 23. Along with this, light to moderate rain may also occur in West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and East Rajasthan.

IMD has issued a yellow alert in 21 districts of Madhya Pradesh, warning of heavy rain with thunderstorms. According to IMD, thunderstorm accompanied with thundershowers in Sagar, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Tikamgarh, Panna, Niwari, Rewa, Satna, Anuppur, Umaria, Dindori, Katni, Chhindwara, Seoni, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Raisen, Hoshangabad, Betul, Dhar and Narsinghpur districts. There may be heavy rain. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain or thundershower at most places in 10 divisions of the state including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur.

For the second time in this month, it is raining in Madhya Pradesh. For the first time in the northern part of the state, there was destruction due to rain in Gwalior and Chambal divisions, in which 24 people died. Saha said that the monsoon is now passing through Gwalior and Sidhi, which is bringing moisture and rain. The rain is expected to continue for the next two to three days.
