India Successfully Test-Fires Agni-Prime Missile Off Odisha Coast

India touched another sky of new success in missile technology on Monday. Agni Prime, a missile developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), was test-fired this morning. The new nuclear-capable missile is made entirely of composite material. According to the information received from the sources, the missile has been found to be accurate on all the parameters during the test. This new missile of Agni series Agni Prime can hit the target accurately up to 1000-2000 km. It is expected that this missile can be inducted into the army soon. This missile is capable of attacking with nuclear weapons.

Agni Prime missile is based on two stage and solid fuel. It will be guided by an inertial navigation system based on an advanced ring-laser gyroscope. Both the stages have composite rocket motors. Its guidance system is equipped with electromechanical actuators. Defense Department sources said that unlike the single-stage Agni-I, the double-stage Agni Prime can be fired from both road and mobile launchers with flexibility. According to sources, due to the use of state-of-the-art technology in Agni Prime, it has a sleeker missile power with less weight than the previous version. Due to this, its firepower will be more lethal than before.

According to the data, ‘Agni Prime’ is a short-range ballistic missile with a range of 1000 km to 1500 km. It is a surface-to-surface missile that can carry a payload of about 1,000 kg or a nuclear warhead. The double-staged missile will be lighter and thinner than ‘Agni-1’. According to a media report, many new technologies have been incorporated in the missile Agni Prime with 4,000 km range and Agni 5 with 5,000 km range.

India first test-fired the Agni missile in 1989. At that time the range of Agni missile was about 700 to 900 km. After this it was included in the Indian Army in the year 204. Since then, India has launched 5 missiles of the Agni series.
