A Pakistani court has lifted the ban on the video sharing platform ‘TikTok’. The court had banned Tiktok for spreading immorality in the country.
A person accused the mobile app of promoting immorality and obscenity and demanded a ban on it from the High Court. After this, the High Court had directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to suspend this Chinese app.
The authority told the court during the hearing that it has banned the use of the app, but requested the court to review the decision and restore services. The court, while accepting the application for lifting the ban, asked the authority to expedite the process on the request of the applicant and pass orders by July 5.
The authority’s representative assured the court that the appeal to remove the “objectionable material” would be decided at a later date given by the court. The court will next hear the matter on Monday.
Last month, the decisions of the Donald Trump administration that banned Tiktok, WeChat and 8 other applications in the US were banned.
It was said by the Biden administration that our government wants to give people an environment of online safety, we support the global digital economy. In such a situation, this decision has been withdrawn and things will be looked at afresh.
At the beginning of the Corona crisis, there was opposition from China all over the world, during this time things of data theft through Chinese applications also came to the fore.
Then the Donald Trump administration had talked about banning apps like Tiktok, WeChat.
However, petitions were filed in the US Court against this order. New downloads of apps like Tiktok, WeChat were banned by the Donald Trump administration. That is, the old downloaded apps will work, but no new person will be able to download.
