Pakistani Delegation to India for SCO Meet

India is going to organize a cyber security seminar for Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries. The two-day event (on 7-8 December) is starting from Tuesday in New Delhi. In this sequence, a Pakistani delegation reached Delhi on Monday to participate in a cyber security seminar. The delegation was received by Pakistan’s High Commission in-charge Aftab Hasan Khan. Earlier a delegation of India had gone to Pakistan to attend the anti-terrorism meeting of SCO in October.

At present the SCO has eight members. There are China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan. Apart from this, the four observer countries are Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia. The SCO is currently considered the largest regional organization in the world.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was established on 15 June 2001 by China, Russia and four Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan). India became a full-time member of the SCO in 2017. Before 2005, it had observer status. India and Pakistan were given member country status at the 17th SCO summit in 2017.

The SCO was founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the presidents of Russia, China, the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan became its permanent members in 2017.
