In a recent discussion with Mr. Jean Todt, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, Thailand’s Prime Minister Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra reaffirmed the government’s dedication to road safety as a priority that deeply affects Thai citizens, especially the youth.
The Prime Minister shared, “I reaffirmed the Thai Government’s commitment to road safety, which is one of the factors affecting people’s lives, including our youth and children.”
During the meeting, Mr. Todt invited Thailand to join the “UN Global Campaign for Road Safety,” which aims to promote safer and more inclusive roads globally through practices such as wearing seat belts, helmets, and avoiding impaired driving. Responding to the invitation, the Prime Minister expressed her support for this campaign, stating, “I expressed the government’s commitment and readiness to work with the UN to create awareness and promote a culture of road safety to address and reduce the severity of road accidents.”
This collaboration highlights Thailand’s resolve to improve road safety and contribute to global efforts in creating secure and sustainable roads.
