Ramappa Temple Gets UNESCO World Heritage Tag

The Kakatiya Rudreshwar Ramappa Temple in Telangana has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Ministry of Culture gave information about this. At the same time, PM Modi has also congratulated the people of Telangana on this occasion.

The Rudreshwar Ramappa temple was built in the 13th century and is named after its architect Ramappa. The government had proposed to UNESCO to recognize it as a World Heritage Site for 2019. It took Ramappa 40 years to build the temple. Scenes from Mahabharata and Ramayana can be seen on the walls of this temple built on a platform six feet high.

The temple also has a huge idol of Nandi, the vehicle of Lord Shiva, whose height is nine feet. A lot of devotees reach here in the month of Shivratri and Sawan. The Kakatiya Heritage Trust (KHT) Trustee M Panduranga Rao said that they have submitted a dossier proposing the inclusion of Ramappa Temple in India’s nomination for the list of World Heritage Sites since 2010 in collaboration with the Telangana State Archaeological Department and ASI. were preparing.

PM Modi tweeted, “Congratulations to all, especially the people of Telangana. The iconic Ramappa temple displays the exquisite craftsmanship of the great Kakatiya dynasty. Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy tweeted, “I am very happy to inform that UNESCO has recognized Ramappa Temple at Palampet, Warangal, Telangana as a World Heritage Site. On behalf of the people of Telangana, I thank Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his guidance and support.”

Ramappa Temple is considered a 13th century engineering marvel. It was proposed to be declared as a World Heritage Site by the government in the year 2019 as the only nomination.
