BANGKOK, THAILAND – The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Embassy of India, Bangkok, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Thailand, hosted a symposium on “Awareness about Cancer Prevention” at SVCC’s premises on August 20, 2024. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and preventive measures in combating cancer.
The symposium featured distinguished speakers from Thailand and India. Dr. Choosri Lertphadungchai, a renowned Ayurveda practitioner and former Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Scholar, highlighted the benefits of traditional Ayurvedic practices. She emphasized the role of detoxification, regular oil massages, and a balanced diet in maintaining overall health and potentially reducing cancer risks.
Dr. Archana Sharma, an esteemed Indian educator and motivational speaker, focused her discussion on the critical importance of regular medical check-ups, particularly for women. Dr. Sharma pointed out that early detection can lead to a cure in over 30% of cancer cases, underscoring the need for routine health screenings as a vital tool in cancer prevention.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where participants raised concerns about the higher costs of cancer screening in Thailand compared to India. The speakers provided insights and discussed possible ways to make preventive healthcare more accessible and affordable.
