TAT Organizes Traditional Dance Show for Phuket Sandbox Tourists

Thailand has always been organizing new activities to welcome tourists to promote tourism. Thus recently the Tourism Authority of Thailand staged a series of special southern folk performances for tourists in Phuket ‘Phuket Sandbox’ with a touch of local culture and color. These activities were organized under ‘Happy Paradise’

A total of six performances were held between August 18-23, 2021, featuring two special dances – Manorah and Ron Rai.

Three Manora dance performances were held on August 18, 2021 at Novotel Phuket Kamala Beach, on August 20, 2021 at Impiana Resort Patong and on August 21, 2021 at Katthani Phuket Beach Resort.

In addition, three Ron Rai dance performances were held at The Shore of Katthani on August 21, 2021, at The Nai Hern on August 22, 2021, and Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket on August 23, 2021.

Manora dance is considered one of the highest standards of classical repertoire of southern Thailand. Dressed in colorful pearls, the performers move delicately and gracefully to the rhythm of Southern music with a wonderful poem.

The Ron Rai Dance is a unique show by the people of Phuket, which mimics the exploration, panning and drying of minerals, the mining process synonymous with the South. It is a charming mix of traditional costumes and delicate dance moves by performers in southern rhythmic music, and was once performed to welcome the Queen of Thailand Sirikit the Queen Mother of Thailand for her first visit to the region in 1959.

Along with a series of Manorah and Ron Rae dance performances, the Happy Paradise project has also seen the presentation of 1,000 Happy Paradise Welcome Kits to Phuket sandbox tourists visiting Phuket International Airport over three days from August 12–14, 2021 . These include the Special Edition Badge, which can be used to redeem various privileges during tourist stays.

Tourists have also been given Happy Paradise souvenirs related to the culture here in their hotels. These include Manohara Beed keychains from Fatalung province, Toi Panan phone bags from Krabi province, Pate cloth notebook covers from Phuket province, and phone and picture holders made of rubberwood from Trang province, among other beautifully made items.

Also tourists were invited to take pictures with Happy Paradise souvenirs in Phuket and post with the hashtag #ThailandHappyParadise for a chance to win prizes

The main objective of the event is to promote interaction between Thailand’s local communities and foreign tourists, as well as a way to generate additional income that helps these communities in Phuket (island-wide), Krabi (Ko Phi Phi, Ko Ngai). , and Rayleigh Beach), the pilot reopening areas of Phang-Nga (Khao Lak and). Ko Yao), and Surat Thani (Ko Samui, Ko Pha-Ngan, and Ko Tao).
