New Delhi, India – H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, participated in the 10th Raisina Dialogue held on March 17-18, 2025, a premier global conference on geopolitics and geo-economics, presided over by the Prime Minister of India. The event gathered over 200 participants, including foreign ministers from 21 countries, as well as senior government officials, private sector leaders, and NGOs from around the world.
Thailand’s Key Contributions at the Raisina Dialogue
During the high-level event, Foreign Minister Sangiampongsa spoke in two key sessions:
- “ASEAN in a Polarized World” – Alongside H.E. Mr. Enrique Manalo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, he addressed the growing geopolitical divisions and emphasized Thailand’s role as a bridge builder in fostering constructive international relations.
- “Secure Waters: ASEAN, QUAD, and the Indo-Pacific” – He highlighted the importance of strategic equilibrium in the Indo-Pacific region and reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to ASEAN’s principles in ensuring regional stability.
He also reinforced Thailand’s dedication to ASEAN centrality and its role in balancing relations between ASEAN, QUAD countries (India, Japan, Australia, and the U.S.), and other external partners.
Bilateral Meeting with India’s Foreign Minister
On the sidelines of the conference, Minister Sangiampongsa held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s Foreign Minister of External Affairs. Their discussions covered:
- Thailand’s invitation to the Prime Minister of India for the BIMSTEC Summit on April 3-4, 2025, in Bangkok.
- Strategies to enhance Thailand-India bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
- Thailand’s humanitarian assistance in facilitating the safe repatriation of Indian nationals victimized by online scams.
Strengthening ASEAN-India Relations and Regional Stability
Thailand’s active participation in the 10th Raisina Dialogue underscores its strategic role in ASEAN and the broader Indo-Pacific region.
