Thailand Prepares for International Day of Yoga 2025

As the world gears up to celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21 June 2025, Thailand has already begun embracing the global wellness movement with a series of vibrant yoga sessions held throughout the country. From historic temples to international schools and universities, these events highlight how yoga is uniting people of all ages and backgrounds under the theme Yoga For One Earth One Health.

The culmination of these activities will take place at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, where the Embassy of India in Thailand invites all to join the main yoga event on 21 June 2025 at 6:00 AM.

Getting there is easy: The venue is accessible via MRT Sam Yan Station and BTS National Stadium Station – just 250 meters from the main gate on Phaya Thai Road.

Yoga Events Across Thailand – A Recap of the Highlights:

1. Yoga at Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai – 14 June
University students and faculty gathered in a serene yoga session led by Mr. Sanjiv Chaturvedi, promoting harmony in mind and body in the lead-up to IDY 2025.

2. Naval Unity at Sea – 14 June
During the 39th INDO-THAI CORPAT, the Indian Navy and Royal Thai Navy participated in a joint yoga session aboard INS Saryu at Phuket’s deep-sea port—symbolizing camaraderie and wellness across nations.

3. Community Wellness at MAYFAIR Market, Korat – 14 June
In collaboration with A-Fit Studio, locals in Nakhon Ratchasima took part in a refreshing yoga session promoting fitness and holistic health.

4. Inclusive Yoga at Chulalongkorn Centenary Park – 14 June
A special session for visually impaired participants offered an inclusive space for wellness and inner peace.

5. Yoga Amid Ruins – Wat Thammikarat, Ayutthaya – 14 June
Early risers practiced yoga in the majestic setting of Ayutthaya’s ancient Wat Thammikarat, blending Thai heritage with ancient Indian philosophy.

Fun fact: Ayutthaya was named after Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram in India—connecting two ancient civilizations through yoga and culture.

6. Yoga in Schools
Hundreds of students from schools like Shrewsbury International School and KIS International School participated in energizing yoga sessions, led by certified teachers including Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur and Mr. Rahul Autade.

7. Universities Embrace Yoga Culture
Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University and Burapha University hosted dynamic sessions involving faculty and students, with poetry recitals in Hindi and engaging talks on yoga’s modern relevance.

These events are just a glimpse of the nationwide movement leading up to International Day of Yoga 2025. From the beaches of Phuket to the classrooms of Bangkok, Thailand is embracing yoga not just as a form of exercise, but as a path to shared well-being and global harmony.
