Thailand — Love is love — and TinderⓇ is here for it. This Pride Month, the world’s most popular dating app is celebrating connections and all things LGBTQIA+ in Thailand, and around the globe. First up? Pride-themed in-app stickers that let members wear their pride loud and proud (or low-key, your call), and a continued commitment to being a space where everyone can be their authentic selves.
Tinder keeps it real with over 50 gender identities and up to nine sexual orientations, giving members the freedom to express themselves — however they want. Whether you’re out and proud or keeping things private, Tinder is all about making it easier (and safer!) for the LGBTQIA+ community to match, mingle, and maybe even meet the one.
Globally, the LGBTQIA+ community is thriving on Tinder. According to Tinder data, between 1 May 2023 and 1 May 2024 there’s been a 66% year-on-year increase in LGBTQIA+ matches, with 30% of all current matches taking place between LGBTQIA+ users. And as of last year, the app has facilitated almost 7 billion LGBTQIA+ matches worldwide, underscoring its vital role in modern love stories.
Among young adults aged 18–25, 28% of matches are between LGBTQIA+ users, reflecting a new generation that values openness, inclusivity, and love without limits. Notably, 53% of LGBTQIA+ users reported being out on a dating app before telling friends and family, highlighting the pivotal role platforms like Tinder play in self-expression and acceptance. Furthermore, 77% of LGBTQIA+ users globally say they’ve used dating apps to meet potential romantic partners.
In Thailand, the vibes are just as strong:
- 100% of LGBTQIA+ users surveyed have actually gone on a date with someone they matched with.
- 50% have had a meaningful relationship with someone they met on Tinder.
These insights reflect a powerful shift toward greater visibility and connection within the LGBTQIA+ community, and the important role Tinder plays in the lives and love stories of LGBTQIA+ Thais.
After a number of unsuccessful relationships, Krit met his partner on Tinder just over one year ago. “I’d dated a few guys before, and it always felt like a bit of a gamble. So after my last breakup, I decided to give Tinder a try. I tiptoed in at first, super cautious, but to my pleasant surprise it turned out to be a fun space where I could just be me. No filters, no pretending—just the real deal. After a few matches, I connected with this amazing guy. He was new to Tinder too, and we hit it off right away. We chatted, laughed, and finally met in real life. And well, fast forward a year, and the rest is history.”
Kirsty Dunn, Director of Communications in Thailand at Tinder, shared, “At Tinder, Pride isn’t just a month — it’s something we support and celebrate all year long. The LGBTQIA+ community continues to shape Tinder into an inclusive, authentic, and vibrant space. In Thailand, it’s incredible to see how Tinder has become a meaningful part of how LGBTQIA+ people connect, express themselves, and find love. We remain committed to making sure everyone feels safe and celebrated — because everyone deserves to be seen for who they truly are.”
Tinder’s Pride stickers are available in Thai language now through July 1. Users can add, change, or remove a sticker by heading to the Stickers section in the Edit Profile screen.
