Wrestler Ravi Dahiya Wins Second Silver Medal

Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya has brought glory to the country by winning a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised him after this achievement. Ravi Dahiya won a silver medal as he lost the Final of 57 kg freestyle category 7-4 against the Russian Olympic Committee’s Zaur Uguev in Tokyo Olympic Games 2020.

In the Olympic Games being played in Tokyo, wrestler Ravi Dahiya, a resident of Sonepat, Haryana, won the silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. In the 57 kg weight category, he was defeated by Russian wrestler Javur Yuvugaev. Yuvugaev presented his best defense and won the match 7-4 on the basis of points.

Yuvugaev scored the opening point, but Ravi Dahiya soon reduced the score to 2-2. After this the Russian player again took the lead. Ravi was trailing 2-4 after the first round. In the second round also Yuvugaev consolidated his lead by scoring a point. Ravi could only collect two points in the second round. In this way, Russian wrestler Javur Yuvugaev won the gold medal by winning the final match 7-4.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated wrestler Ravi Dahiya, who won silver medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020. PM Modi said, “Ravi Kumar Dahiya is a brilliant wrestler. His fighting spirit and tenacity are excellent. Congratulations to him for winning the silver medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020. India is very proud of his achievements.”

This is India’s second silver medal in wrestling. Earlier, Sushil Kumar had reached the finals of London Olympics 2012, but he had to be satisfied with the silver medal. India secured its second silver medal at the Tokyo Games. Earlier, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu had secured second place in the women’s 49kg weight category, and won the country a silver medal. India now has two silver medals in Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Shooter Abhinav Bindra was the only player from India to win an individual gold medal at the Olympics. He won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle at the Beijing Olympics 2008.
