22 jawans martyred in Chhattisgarh attack, Naxalites looted arms of two dozen security personnel

On Saturday, Naxalites surrounded more than 700 soldiers in Naxal-affected Bijapur in Chhattisgarh. Bijapur SP said on Sunday that 22 soldiers have been killed and many are still missing in an encounter with Naxalites. Naxals also looted weapons of more than two dozen security personnel. A search operation of the security force is going on since this morning to search for the missing soldiers. The bodies of 17 missing soldiers have been recovered from the spot by security forces. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel have expressed grief over the incident. Naxalites are also reported to have suffered a lot in the encounter. 22 soldiers were killed in the attack. At the same time, more than 31 injured soldiers are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
