549 Indians Rescued from Myanmar Scam Centers, Repatriated via Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand – In a coordinated effort between the Embassy of India in Thailand and the Embassy of India in Myanmar, a total of 549 Indian nationals have been successfully repatriated from Myanmar through Mae Sot, Thailand, on 10 and 11 March 2025 via two special flights to India.

These individuals were rescued from scam centers operating in Myanmar, particularly in areas near the Myanmar-Thailand border. Many of them had been lured by fraudulent job offers and were forced to work under exploitative conditions.

The Government of India, in close collaboration with local authorities in Thailand and Myanmar, has been actively working to secure the release and safe return of Indian citizens who fall victim to such scams in the region.

The Indian government has once again urged job seekers to exercise caution, advising them to verify the credentials of foreign employers, recruitment agents, and companies before accepting overseas job offers.

This latest repatriation effort highlights India’s ongoing commitment to protecting its citizens from fraudulent employment schemes and ensuring their safe return home.

For further assistance, Indian nationals facing similar issues are encouraged to reach out to the nearest Indian embassy or consulate.
