Hyderabad, India – The much-anticipated 72nd Miss World Festival officially opened on Saturday, May 10 with an electrifying ceremony at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, marking a vibrant start to a month-long celebration of global beauty, culture, and humanitarian values. The event commenced with a resounding message of peace, unity, and purpose, perfectly echoing the pageant’s long-standing motto—“Beauty with a Purpose.”
Over 110 contestants from around the world were warmly welcomed with a spectacular cultural extravaganza showcasing Telangana’s traditional arts, including mesmerizing performances of Perini, Kommu Koya, Lambada, and Oggu Dolu dances. These performances, steeped in history and emotion, provided a vivid introduction to the host region’s rich heritage and set an inspiring tone for the festival.
Presiding over the grand inauguration, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy extended heartfelt greetings to the delegates, while Julia Morley CBE, Chairman and CEO of Miss World Limited, officially declared the festival open.
Jayesh Ranjan, FAC Special Chief Secretary of Telangana’s Youth Advancement, Tourism, and Culture Department, emphasized the international significance of the event.
Reigning Miss World Krystyna Pyszková also took part in the ceremony, expressing her appreciation to the host state and encouraging contestants to represent their cultures and communities with pride.
A vivid parade of nations followed, with each contestant proudly carrying her national flag and donning her country’s traditional attire—creating a visual spectacle of global unity and pride.
