TAT Opens Crisis Centre to Support Travellers Amid Southern Thailand Flooding

Bangkok, Thailand — The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the new Tourism Crisis Monitoring Centre (TCMC) in response to the severe flooding impacting Southern Thailand, aiming to offer a coordinated, reliable hub for real-time travel assistance and updates.

Designed as a central command point, the TCMC works directly with national agencies, provincial authorities, embassies, tour operators, and tourism partners to streamline support for travellers affected by widespread disruptions. The move comes as persistent rainfall continues to affect key southern provinces, including Songkhla, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Trang, Satun, Surat Thani, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat— with Hat Yai among the hardest-hit.

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool acknowledged the growing concern among visitors, underscoring the agency’s focus on clear, reliable communication and coordinated assistance. TAT teams are actively helping travellers who are unable to leave affected areas, arranging safe transport to shelters and ensuring accurate information flow through diplomatic and tourism channels.

As conditions evolve, the TCMC will continue to deliver verified updates to help travellers plan their next steps and to support tourism operators across the region. Once the situation stabilises, TAT will shift its focus to assessing long-term tourism impacts and supporting recovery efforts in affected destinations.
