India will celebrate its 75th Independence Day on 15th August. At the same time, Pakistan, which became independent from the British along with India, is celebrating its 75th Independence Day on 14 August. The reason for this is that Pakistan was separated from India on this day. Remembering the pain of partition of the country on the date of partition of both the countries, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to celebrate 14 August as ‘Partition Vibhishika Memorial Day’. PM Modi has said this by tweeting. PM Modi has also given the reason for this. He says that on this day lakhs of our sisters and brothers had to be displaced due to hatred and violence. In memory of his sacrifice, it has been decided to celebrate ‘Vibhishan Vibhishika Memorial Day’ on 14th August.
PM Modi wrote in the tweet, “The pain of partition of the country can never be forgotten. Due to hatred and violence lakhs of our sisters and brothers had to be displaced and even lost their lives. Remembering the struggle and sacrifice of those people. It has been decided to observe 14th August as ‘Partition HorrorsRemembranceDay’. This day of #PartitionHorrorsRemembranceDay will not only inspire us to eliminate the poison of discrimination, animosity and ill-will, but will also lead to unity, social harmony and Human sensibilities will also be strengthened.”
The date of August 14 has been written with tears in the history of the country. This was the day when the country was partitioned and Pakistan was declared a separate nation on 14 August 1947 and India on 15 August 1947. In this partition, not only the Indian sub-continent was divided into two, but Bengal was also partitioned and the eastern part of Bengal was separated from India to form East Pakistan, which became Bangladesh after the 1971 war.
To say it was the partition of a country, but in reality it was the division of hearts, families, relationships and feelings. This partition wound on Mother India’s chest will continue to ooze for centuries and generations to come will continue to feel the tinge of this most painful and bloody day of the day.
