Blackpink’s Lisa to Join Thailand’s New Year Countdown at ICONSIAM

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has officially announced that global superstar Lalisa Manobal, better known as Lisa from the renowned K-pop group Blackpink, will be a highlight at Thailand’s New Year’s Countdown event at ICONSIAM Mall.

During a recent Cabinet meeting at Government House, the prime minister expressed her excitement about Lisa’s participation. She emphasized that the event is primarily being organized by the private sector, but some details are still being finalized.

“While the private sector is fully in charge, I’m not sure if all the arrangements have been confirmed yet,” Paetongtarn stated, adding that the government is eager to support and celebrate Lisa’s appearance, not only because she is a beloved figure in Thailand but also due to her international success.

Paetongtarn further remarked, “If everything falls into place, it will undoubtedly be an exciting moment for the country.”

The Cabinet meeting included several officials who participated remotely, such as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Theerarat Samrejvanich and Minister of Defence Lt Gen Natthapon Nakpanich, who is currently coordinating flood response efforts. However, the absence of three key Cabinet members—Minister of Labour Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Higher Education Supamas Isarabhakdi, and Deputy Minister of Finance Paopoom Rojanasakul—sparked some concerns about their respective ministries’ ongoing challenges as the country gears up for the New Year celebrations.

The confirmation of Lisa’s involvement has generated immense excitement, as the countdown at ICONSIAM is expected to draw global attention.
