CEO of Serum Institute gets Y Security

Y category security has been given to Adar Poonawala, CEO of Serum Institute of India (SII), which has been in controversy over the price of KoviShield. Central government officials gave this information on Wednesday. It has been told that Poonawala has been given security in view of the fear of danger. Now 11 security personnel, along with 4-5 commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), will remain with Poonawala at all times. They will get this security cover all over the country.

On April 16, Prakash Kumar Singh, Director (Government and Regulatory Affairs) of SII wrote a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah. In this, an appeal was given to give security to Poonawala.

The Serum Institute is making Corona’s vaccine (Coveshield). Recently, the institute came under controversy over the price of the vaccine. It had announced to give KoviShield to the states for 400 rupees, while the price for the central government was kept at 150 rupees.

Many opposition leaders made it an issue and one vaccine was starting to be a price trend on social media as well. Subsequently, on Wednesday, the Serum Institute announced a 25% reduction in the vaccine price to Rs 300 for the states.
