Cyclone Yaas: PM Modi Announces Rs 1,000 Crore Relief For States

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today took stock of the damage caused by cyclone ‘Yass’ in Odisha and West Bengal. He then announced a relief package. Odisha will be given Rs 500 crore with immediate effect. Including West Bengal and Jharkhand, the remaining 500 crore rupees will be given according to the loss.

The central team will visit the states to assess the damage. Further assistance will be given on the basis of assessment. PM Modi announced Rs 2 lakh each to the family who lost their lives due to the cyclone and Rs 50,000 to the seriously injured.

Pion Modi first went to Bhubaneshwar after leaving Delhi, where he held a review meeting. Besides the Chief Minister of Odisha, Governor Ganeshi Lal, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sarangi and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The Prime Minister then left for an aerial survey of the affected areas of Balasore and Bhadrak. From here came to West Bengal and held a review meeting. The cyclone Yass hit the coastal area of ​​Odisha on Wednesday. So far four people have died in the incidents related to the cyclone. Whereas, more than 21 lakh people were evacuated to safe places in Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand.
