Delhi: Tilak Nagar Market Shut Down Till July 27

Due to violation of the COVID-19 rules in Tilak Nagar area of Delhi, the sub-divisional officer has closed many markets in the area till July 27. Officials gave this information on Friday.

Patel Nagar Sub-Divisional Officer Jitendra Singh had ordered the closure of Tilak Nagar market on Thursday, which includes Mall Road, Main Bazar, Mangal Bazar Road, Purana Bazar, Fruit Markets. The order came after receiving information about shopkeepers and consumers not following the rules of COVID-19.

The order also said that an additional report has been received from the SHO of Tilak Nagar that states that a physical inspection on July 22 revealed that “DDMA guidelines/COVID-19 protocol was not followed in Tilak Nagar markets” and it was recommended that the market be closed “for at least three to five days” to prevent the virus from spreading.

Markets have been ordered to remain closed from July 23 to July 27 in the “overall imminent public interest”. Because of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, a complete lockdown was imposed in Delhi from April 19 to May 30. Phased unlock of the city started as the COVID-19 situation improved. Markets were allowed to reopen on 7 June. However, several markets in the city including, Laxmi Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Janpath, Kamla Nagar, and Sarojini Nagar have been temporarily closed due to repeated incidents of violation of the COVID-19 protocols.
