Drone Attack at Jammu Air Base, Suspects Detained

Two blasts took place in the technical airport complex of Jammu. the first blast ripped off the roof of a building at 1:37 am while the second one was on the ground at 1:42 am. The area was cordoned off by security forces within minutes. Jammu Police has confirmed this. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh termed the two blasts at the Jammu airport under the jurisdiction of the Air Force as a terrorist attack. He said that another IED weighing 5-6 kg was recovered by the Jammu Police. This IED was obtained by Lashkar-e-Taiba operative and it was to be planted in a crowded place.

Dilbag Singh said that with this recovery a big terrorist attack has been averted. The suspect was apprehended during interrogation. More suspects are likely to be caught in this failed IED blast attempt. Police is also working on the incident of blast in Jammu airspace along with other agencies. FIR has been registered and investigation is on.

Two explosives-laden drones fell in the air force’s jurisdiction over the airport, triggering two blasts within a span of six minutes, injuring two IAF personnel. The roof of a building in the technical area of ​​the airport collapsed in the first explosion in the city’s Satwari area, officials said. The Air Force takes over the maintenance of this place and the second explosion took place on the ground six minutes later.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s office said that he spoke to the Deputy Chief of the Air Force Air Marshal HS Arora regarding the blasts. The Indian Air Force tweeted that “two low intensity explosions” were reported early Sunday in the technical area of ​​Jammu Air Force Station. One of these explosions caused minor damage to the roof of a building, while the other exploded in an open area.

The Air Force said, “There was no damage to any equipment. Investigation is being done in collaboration with civil agencies.” Spoke to Deputy Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal HS Arora about it. Air Marshal Vikram Singh is reaching Jammu to take stock of the situation.
