The threat of another wave of COVID-19 is looming around the world. People are being constantly advised by the government of their country including WHO not to take corona lightly and follow all the rules of COVID-19. In view of the threat of corona, the US has approved the Pfizer Covid-19 booster dose. The FDA i.e. US Food and Drug Administration has approved the Pfizer Covid Booster Dose.
FDA Approves Pfizer Covid Booster Dose
Food and Administration have approved Pfizer’s Covid-19 Booster Dose. A panel of expert advisors to the FDA said that a booster dose of the corona vaccine, made by Pfitzer Inc. and Biontech SE, should be given to people who are suffering from a serious illness.
Booster dose should be given to the elderly
The FDA had sought approval for a booster dose of Pfizer’s Covid vaccine for everyone over the age of 16. However, a panel of expert advisors rejected his plea. That panel clearly said that the Pfizer Covid-19 booster dose should be given only to people above 65 years of age or those suffering from a serious illness. Because this booster dose can be fatal for the youth.
The FDA and Pfizer had originally sought approval for Covid booster doses for all ages of 16 and older, but their proposal was rejected by advisors. However, FDA Acting Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock said in a statement that FDA authorization would allow boosters in health care workers, teachers, grocery workers, and homeless shelters or prisons.
As we learn more about the safety and effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccines, including the use of a booster dose, we will continue to evaluate the rapidly changing science and inform the public.
