Finance Minister launches National Monetization Pipeline

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has launched MNP i.e. National Monetization Pipeline. On this occasion, Nirmala Sitharaman said that monetization of properties does not include sale of land and it is related to monetization of existing properties (brownfield properties). Through this, the government is preparing to raise Rs 6 lakh crore. On this occasion, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said that infrastructure assets worth Rs 6 lakh crore related to rail, road, power sector will be monetized during four years. .

Amitabh Kant said, “We are fully committed to make the National Monetization Pipeline a success. We feel it is very important to get into the private sector for better operation and management. So we are working hard at the grassroots level. Committed to.”

“Under the NMP, a total monetization prospect of Rs 6 lakh crore is projected through core assets of the central government over a period of four years from FY 2022 to FY 2025,” the Finance Minister said.

Giving information about this scheme, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the National Monetization Pipeline is about brownfield properties where investments are already being made. He said that these are such assets which are either lying idle or not fully monetized or under-utilised.

Nirmala Sitharaman said that by bringing private stake in it, we are going to monetize it better. He said that from whatever resources will be obtained after monetization, we will invest more in building infrastructure ahead.

On the questions being raised on this scheme, Sitharaman said, “People who have this question in their mind are we selling land? No. The national monetization pipeline is about brownfield properties, which need to be monetized in a better way.”

Finance Minister Sitharaman said that it is very important that India understands that the time has come to make the most of our assets. “The ownership of the property will remain with the government and it will be mandatory to return their control,” he said.

The Ministry of Finance said that the Ministries of Roads, Transport and Highways, Railways, Power, Pipelines and Natural Gas, Civil Aviation, Shipping Ports and Waterways, Telecommunications, Food and Public Distribution, Mining, Coal and Housing and Urban Affairs National Monetization included in the pipeline.
