Fuel Prices Hiked Again Today

After staying for a day in the country, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased again today. Petrol and diesel prices have increased by 19 paise today. After which the price of one liter of petrol in the capital Delhi has now gone up to 95.56, which is the highest ever. At the same time, the cost of one liter of diesel is 86.47. Petrol-diesel has become expensive for the 22nd time this year after May 4.

Petrol has now reached a historic high in different parts of the country. Petrol has crossed Rs 100 per liter in six states and union territories including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Ladakh. At the same time, a liter of petrol in Mumbai is now getting Rs 101.

Rajasthan levies the highest VAT on petrol and diesel in the country. It is followed by Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Mumbai is the first metropolis in the country where petrol had crossed Rs 100 per liter on May 29. At present, petrol in Mumbai is priced at Rs 101.71 and diesel at Rs 93.77 per liter.

Petrol, diesel prices have been hiked for the 22nd time after May 4 this year. During this, the price of petrol has increased by Rs 5.15 and diesel by Rs 5.74 per liter. Oil companies fix prices in the domestic market on a daily basis based on the average of the last 15 days’ prices in the international market.

Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the prices of petroleum products have increased. The main reason for this is that the price of crude oil has exceeded US $ 70 (per barrel) in the international market. This negatively affects the consumers of the country, as India imports 80 per cent of its oil requirement.
