Government Increases MSP For Kharif Crops

The Modi government has once again decided to increase the minimum support price on Kharif crops, giving relief to the farmers. Its decision was taken in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Giving this information, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the MSP on paddy has been increased by Rs 72. After which, from Rs 1868 per quintal, paddy has now increased to Rs 1940 per quintal. Along with this, the MSP on bajra has been increased from Rs 2150 per quintal to Rs 2250 per quintal.

The Agriculture Minister said that in the last 7 years, big decisions have been taken in favor of the farmer so that the income of the farmers can increase and they can get happiness. MSP is declared from 2018 by adding 50% return on cost. He said that for the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2020-21 (till 6th June 2021), more than 813.11 LMT of paddy was procured at MSP as compared to 736.36 LMT last year, which would amount to 120 lakhs for the released KMS. More and more farmers have benefited.

Narendra Singh Tomar further said that under the leadership of PM Modi, decisions were taken in the field of farmers one after the other, which would increase the income of the farmer. Work was done to make agriculture a profitable deal. The decision of MSP has been taken for the farmers for Kharif season. The MSP of paddy, bajra and tur was increased.

Tomar further said that all the parties in the country wanted to bring agricultural law but they could not dare. The Government of India interacted with the farmers 11 times. But neither any farmer union nor any party gave any answer to this, so the talks could not move forward. When farmers are ready for talks, we are ready for talks.
