Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 9th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, via video conferencing on Monday. PM Modi transferred an amount of more than Rs 19,500 crore to more than 9.75 crore beneficiary farmer families.
The Prime Minister also interacted with the beneficiaries of the scheme and spoke on how the Centre’s initiative has been uplifting the farmers of the country and contributing towards the nation’s development making India Atmanirbhar.
PM said, “The nation will be celebrating its 75th Independence Day this year. This important milestone is not only a matter of pride for us but also an occasion for new resolutions & goals. On this occasion, we have to decide that where do we want to see India in the next 25 years”.
PM further said that the upliftment of farmers will decide the country’s future for the next 100 years.
PM said, “What would be India’s condition when it completes 100 yrs of independence in 2047-our farming, villages&farmers will play a crucial role in deciding it. It’s time to provide such direction to agriculture that it’ll be able to face new challenges & benefit from new opportunities.”
“We’ve seen the strength of India’s farmers even at the time of pandemic. Amid record production, Govt also made an effort to minimise the difficulties of farmers. From providing seeds and fertilisers, to helping the farmers take their produce to markets, govt made all efforts”, said PM Modi.
PM Modi said that India needs to increase the production of cooking oil to empower the farmers, hence Centre will invest Rs 11000 crore in this scheme.
Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar addressed the occasion and said, “Nation is a witness to the fact that PM Modi has been continuously working for all-round development of the nation. When Olympics was going to be held this yr, he held discussions with the athletes & players before that, he encouraged them.”
Under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, financial assistance of Rs 6,000 is given to farmers every year. The assistance is payable in three equal four-monthly installments of Rs2,000 each. These installments are deposited by the government in the bank accounts of the farmers under direct benefit transfer.
Earlier in May, PM Modi had released the 8th installment of financial benefit under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. The last installment of PM-KISAN was disbursed to 9 crore farm households, as informed by the Agriculture Ministry.
