After the results of the assembly elections in Assam, the suspense about the post of Chief Minister finally came to an end. BJP leader Hemant Biswa Sarma will be the new Chief Minister of Assam. The BJP Legislature Party met in the capital Guwahati for a decision in the name of the Chief Minister. Hemant Biswa Sarma will replace Sarbananda Sonowal as the Chief Minister of Assam.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s approval for Sarma’s name, Sonowal proposed Hemant Biswa Sarma’s name in a legislative party meeting held in Guwahati. Hemant Biswa Sarma has been elected as the leader of the legislative party.
The BJP-led NDA has won the recently concluded assembly elections in Assam. BJP has won 60 seats in the 126-member assembly.
