Following Hongkong’s much severe Covid-19 restrictions last week, which is currently already deemed as one of the strictest in the world, the report had resulted in distress among the city’s lively business community as some question whether the decision imperils its status as Asia’s financial hub.
Current Chief Executive Carrie Lam of Hongkong had announced that nearly every exemption from quarantine for travelers coming from abroad and within the mainland would now be stopped.
According to CE Carrie the decision was to accelerate the reopening of China to the region although it will lead businesses at the brink, she added that epening the City to mainland China is more important than opening it elsewhere.
Moreover, Hong Kong currently has one of the most stringent mandatory quarantine systems in comparison to any administration, with most of the entries having to go through between 14 to 21 days of quarantine time in the city’s hotels.
