Early next month the Income Tax Department is preparing to introduce a new e-filing web portal for taxpayers, which can be used for ITR filing and other tax related tasks. Officials said on Thursday that the new portal will be more convenient. The existing web portal will be closed from June 1 to June 6.
In an order issued on Wednesday by the department’s system wing, the work of moving from the old portal to the new portal will be completed and it will be operational by June 7.
The order has asked the officials to fix a date after June 10 for any hearing or redressal of the complaint, so that by then the taxpayers can understand the new system well. The order also said that in the meantime any work scheduled between the taxpayer and the department official can be postponed.
