INDIA COVID Cases Update as of February 10, 2022

India COVID Feb 10, 2022 – The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in India has reported a decrease in COVID cases since yesterday. As of February 10, 2022 (8:00 IST), there has been a total of 66,964 new cases reported across India.

Kerala has reported 23,253 cases followed by Maharashtra registering 7,142 cases, and Karnataka stands at 5,339 cases at this time. Today’s number is lower than yesterday’s and below the 200,000 mark that was previously reported.

This is the fourth day that the cases have fallen below 100,000. Despite the decrease in cases, public precaution is still advised. Social Distancing, vaccination, and wearing masks is still recommended.

Top WHO official warned that omicron will not be the last one and the possibility of a new one is high. WHO COVID-19 Technical Lead Maria Van Kerkhove said that the global health agency is tracking four different versions of Omicron. One of the known versions is BA. 2 which is now in 54 countries. This is said to be more contagious than the omicron variant. Studies are ongoing on the efficacy of vaccines against it as well as its virology.

Many countries around the world are still continuing their fight against COVID. Health experts warn that although omicron is really mild, the real threat is a mutation. The virus is capable of evolving into something more contagious or more deadly.
