WHO COVID-19 Technical Lead Maria Van Kerkhove said that the global health agency is tracking four different versions of Omicron. One of the known versions is BA. 2 which is now in 54 countries. This is said to be more contagious than the omicron variant. Studies are ongoing on the efficacy of vaccines against it as well as its virology.
Many countries around the world are still continuing their fight against COVID. Health experts warn that although omicron is really mild, the real threat is a mutation. The virus is capable of evolving into something more contagious or more deadly.
