India Monsoon Update

Rain continues in different parts of the country. Light to moderate rain at isolated places over parts of Punjab, North Rajasthan, foothills of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, parts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu during next 24 hours Heavy rain is possible at places.

Light to moderate rain may occur over Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, parts of Gujarat, parts of Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, rest of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu and rest of Northeast India. Light rain is possible over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala.

Rain expected for two days in eastern UP
Monsoon that has been active in Uttar Pradesh has soaked many areas in the western parts of the state during the last 24 hours. At the same time, there is a possibility of rain in East Uttar Pradesh for the next two days. During the next 24 hours, rain is expected at many places in the eastern parts of the state and at some places in the western parts. This process of rain is expected to continue till August 25.

Less rain likely over plains of Northwest India
The current rainfall activity over plains of Northwest India is likely to subside from Monday, while heavy rains are likely over Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh till August 26. According to the IMD, “There is also a possibility of heavy rain in these areas from Monday to August 26 and after that the rains will reduce.”

The IMD has also predicted heavy rains in Northeast, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Bihar from August 24. Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue till August 24 in Northeast, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Bihar. Thereafter it increased in intensity with very heavy falls over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya between August 24 and 26 and Bihar during August 25 and 26. The IMD said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in Assam and Meghalaya on August 25.
