Out of the 273 people stranded on Barge P-305 at sea 175 km from Mumbai due to cyclonic storm, 184 have been rescued by brave Navy personnel. The bodies of 22 people have been recovered. While 81 people are still missing, relief and rescue operations are on to save them.
Out of 713 people aboard 4 ships stranded in the sea of Mumbai, 620 people have been rescued. The officer said three barges and an oil rig carrying 713 personnel were trapped in the sea on Monday. These include Barge P305 carrying 273 people, GAL constructor carrying 137 personnel and SS-3 barge which had 196 personnel present. Also, ‘Sagar Bhushan’ oil rig was also trapped in the sea, in which 101 personnel were present. Out of this, barge P305 has sunk, 81 people on board are still missing, and a search operation is on to rescue them.
.The Navy and Coast Guard rescued 137 people present in the barge ‘GAL constructor’ till Tuesday. It got stuck 48 nautical miles north from Colba Point. Emergency boat Water Lily was sent to rescue here.
