The central government has decided to take strict action on e-commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart. The government has directed the e-commerce companies to be appointed as nodal officers for compliance of the new rules for the interests of the consumer.
This rule will be applicable to those e-commerce companies which are registered in India. At the same time it will also be applicable to those companies which are registered abroad, but are providing goods and services to Indian consumers. The bye-law of the new rule is included in the Consumer Protection E-Commerce Rule 2020, which came into force from 17 May.
