President Ram Nath Kovind’s program to visit Dras today has been cancelled. He will not go to Dras anymore. It is being told that the program has been canceled due to bad weather. President Kovind is now going to Gulmarg. Here he will meet with the soldiers. Remind you that last year also the President’s program to visit Dras was canceled due to bad weather.

Let us tell you, in the year 1999, there was a war between India and Pakistan on the high peaks of Kargil, in which India won. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year at the War Memorial in Dras, Kargil, to commemorate the victory of that war. In 1999, the Pakistani army captured these peaks of India. From these peaks situated at an altitude of 14 to 18 thousand feet, the Indian Army had killed Pakistani infiltrators with great bravery. In this war, 500 soldiers of India were martyred. This war is known in military-history as a very difficult and risky war.
