From May 13, 2025, at 2PM, art lovers, travelers, and curious visitors can experience one of the most talked-about art installations of the year—KAWS:HOLIDAY THAILAND. Best of all, this awe-inspiring exhibit is completely free to the public, offering an incredible opportunity to witness the magic of KAWS‘s monumental sculptures in the heart of Bangkok.
Sanam Luang, the historically significant Royal Cremation Ground, serves as the perfect backdrop for this immersive art experience. With its deep cultural and spiritual heritage, the site enhances the KAWS:HOLIDAY installation’s message of interconnectedness and cosmic harmony, making this an unforgettable event.
A Landmark Steeped in History and Spirituality
Located in the heart of Bangkok, Sanam Luang—also known as Thung Phra Meru or the Royal Cremation Ground—is a site of deep cultural and cosmic symbolism. Historically a place where the celestial meets the earthly, it serves as the perfect setting for KAWS’ meditative art installation.
Symbolically representing the center of the universe, Sanam Luang resonates with the spiritual intention behind the installation: to invite visitors to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the present moment.
Art That Bridges Generations and Realms
At the center of the installation is an 18-metre reclining COMPANION gently cradling the Moon, symbolizing the interconnectedness of all things—the cosmos, the earth, and humanity. Nestled within the arms of this cosmic figure is a smaller COMPANION, representing the timeless transmission of care and wisdom across generations.
The result is a serene and powerful visual metaphor that invites us to consider our place in the universe and the threads that link us to each other, past and present.
A Space for Reflection and Reconnection
More than just a large-scale sculpture, KAWS:HOLIDAY THAILAND is an invitation to rest. The installation and its surrounding programming are intentionally designed to offer respite from the rush of daily life. Visitors can experience calm in a space where art, environment, and heritage merge.
Supported by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Central The 1 Credit Card, Plan B Media Public Company Limited, and Lighting & Equipment Public Company Limited, this event showcases the power of public art to spark connection and presence.
