Koh Larn to Stay Closed Until End of Month

Ko Larn, the island off of Pattaya, will stay closed for tourism, at least until the end of the month, announced the Koh Larn Local Committee . The island was supposed to open tomorrow.

The committee says boat schedules have been added for residents leaving Koh Larn at 7:30 am and getting back from Pattaya at 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday boat schedules are reserved for people who have official permission.

Before news, the island said they were only allowing in people who had been vaccinated. Then, 6 Covid cases were discovered, says the Pattaya mayor. The island was then closed. Thai media speculates that the cautious decisions surrounding Koh Larn represent a move toward making Koh Larn into a Sandbox like Phuket at a later date.

2 months prior, it was announced that Ko Larn was 70% vaccinated.

Koh Larn is a small island located right in front of Pattaya. With its beautiful beaches and an unbelievable turquoise blue sea, this tiny island is a real paradise on the East Coast of Thailand. Indeed, the island Koh Larn has become a popular destination and many tourists from Pattaya flock to see this amazing place.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration recorded 17,491 new Covid-19 cases today and 242 coronavirus-related deaths. A total of 1,037,923 people have tested positive for Covid-19 since April 1, the start of the latest and most severe wave of the coronavirus in Thailand.

There are now 195,454 people being treated for Covid-19. The number of active cases has been on a downward slope as the daily recovery count continues to exceed the number of new cases. Today, the CCSA recorded 22,134 recoveries.

Out of the new cases reported today, 398 were found in correctional facilities. The latest wave spread to Thailand’s overcrowded prisons, infecting more than 40,000 inmates.
