In March, Parliament passed the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill 2021. This NCT bill became effective from 27th April after the notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs. After the enactment of this bill, now Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal will have more powers than the common man government of Delhi.
After this Act comes into effect, the Government will now be the Deputy Governor of Delhi. Before taking any decision, the Delhi government will have to take the opinion of the Lieutenant Governor. If the government takes decisions related to the legislature, it will have to get approval 15 days before LG. If it takes decisions related to administrative matters, then it will be necessary to get approval 7 days in advance.
The NCT bill came into effect from Tuesday. The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a notification in this regard. This amendment bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on March 22 and in the Rajya Sabha on March 24. It was signed by President Ram Nath Kovind on March 28.
