Maharashtra Govt Announces Rajiv Gandhi Award for IT Sector

The Khel Ratna Award, the highest sports honor in India, has been renamed as Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna in place of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna. On which in the past, Congress leaders were seen welcoming this decision as well as demanding to change the names of Narendra Modi Stadium and Arun Jaitley Stadium.

At the same time, the Maharashtra government has announced to announce an award in the name of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Maharashtra’s Minister of State for IT Satej Patil says that ‘Maharashtra government has announced an award in the name of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to encourage apex organizations in the IT sector helping the society.’

Giving information about this in a tweet, Satej Patil wrote, ‘As the Minister of State for IT, Maharashtra, my heart fills with pride to announce that the MVA Government will present an award in the name of Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji on 20 August 2021. Will announce The aim of which is to encourage top organizations in the IT sector.

Satej Patil says that this award is to honor the contribution of Rajiv Gandhi, who was the Prime Minister of the country from 1984 to 1989, in promoting the IT sector in India. Satej Patil has said in another tweet that this award will be a permanent tribute to Late Shri Rajiv ji for his pioneering work in the field of technology in India.

At present, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna was started from 1991-92. The first Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in the country was given to the great chess player Viswanathan Anand. So far a total of 43 players have been given this award.

At the same time, political parties in the country have come face to face many times before for changing the name. In which a lot of uproar was seen when the name of Motera Stadium in Gujarat was changed to Narendra Modi Stadium in the same year. However, along with the Narendra Modi stadium, both the ends of its pavilion were also in the headlines. Which are named after Adani and Reliance.
