Maharashtra Govt Issues Guidelines for Ganeshotsav

In view of the third wave of corona infection, the Maharashtra government has issued a new guideline regarding Ganeshotsav. Under this, the height of Ganesh idols to be installed in houses or pandals has been fixed. According to the guideline, Bappa of 4 feet can now be installed in public pandals and only 2 feet in homes.

This time in Maharashtra, Ganeshotsav will begin with the installation of Bappa’s statue on September 10 and the immersion will be done on September 19. Instructions have been issued by the government to make the festival of establishment and immersion simple. During this time there will be a ban on gathering gatherings.

  • The height of Ganesh idols to be installed in public circles and homes should not be more than 4 feet and 2 feet.
  • All Ganesh mandals will have to set up pavilions on the basis of guidelines framed by municipal corporations and local administration.
  • During the installation of idols being done in public Ganesh Mandals or at homes by people, one should not indulge in much frills about the decoration.
  • Immersion of Ganpati idol should be done in an artificial pond, if possible a clay idol should be installed.
  • The donations given by the public should be accepted and door-to-door donations should be avoided.
  • Instead of cultural programs, health awareness programs should be organized.
  • Crowds in Aarti, Bhajan, Kirtan should be stopped and maximum online darshan should be promoted.
  • Sanitization and thermal screening facilities should be available in the Ganpati pandal.

Earlier, the sculptors of the state had written a letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray, demanding to issue guidelines regarding Ganeshotsav at the earliest. Reshma Khatu had taken the side of the sculptors in this context. He had said that only two months are left for Ganeshotsav. In such a situation, the sculptor is very worried. Therefore, the government should issue its guidelines in this regard immediately. The sculptors had not even started the work of making idols due to these guidelines of the government.
