Manchester United star Mason Greenwood is suspended. Manchester Football Club announced Mr. Greenwood “will not return to training or play matches until further notice,” after allegations of domestic violence emerged against the 20-year-old England player. “Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind,” the statement added.
Club spokesperson responded to CNN saying they are aware of “images and allegations circulating on social media” regarding the footballer, adding it would “not make any further comment until the facts have been established.”
On Sunday, Greater Manchester Police reported that “a man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault”. The man is in custody for questioning and further inquiry. They also stated that earlier that morning they were made aware of “online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.”
Police also said it would not confirm any names of victims or potential offenders.
Social media influencer Harriet Robson accuses Greenwood of domestic violence. She showed photos of what appears to be her lip bleeding and bruises to her body. The post has been deleted Sunday.
