The 35-year-old football legend Lionel Messi is in impeccable form as he leads his team to the FIFA 2022 World Cup finals. Messi scored a goal with two other goals by Julián Álvarez in Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Croatia.2022 is perhaps the last year for ageing legends like Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Luca Modrić to lead their country to lift the Football World Cup trophy. However, it is just Messi who now has a shot at doing so, as Argentina is through to the finals.
Despite being considered one of the game’s greatest players ever, Messi has never won a Football World Cup. Messi though lead Argentina to the 2014 World Cup final but lost 0-1 to Germany.
Argentina will face the winners of today’s match (France vs Morocco) in the finals to be held on Sunday 18th December.
