Former Olympian Padmashree Milkha Singh (91), who was battling for almost a month after being infected with Corona, died at PGI Chandigarh. Milkha Singh, world famous as Flying Sikh, was found corona infected on 19 May. After this he was admitted in Fortis Mohali. Later, on the request of his family members, he was being discharged from the hospital and undergoing treatment at his residence in Sector-8.
He was admitted to PGI on June 3 when his condition deteriorated. His corona report came negative on Wednesday, but he became very weak due to infection. He had fever again and his oxygen level had also dropped considerably. After which he has now passed away. With his death an era of Indian sport came to an end. This sad news spread a wave of mourning among the sports lovers of the country and the world.

The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi has condoled the death of Milkha Singh. He tweeted that, “We have lost a great player. Milkha Singh had a special place in the hearts of Indians. He inspired people with his personality. I am deeply saddened by his demise.”
Along with Milkha Singh, his wife Nirmal Kaur also got corona infected. He was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali when his condition became critical. His condition also remained stable for several days, but he died on the evening of 13 June. There was a lot of bond between Milkha Singh and his wife.
