Britain is easing its travel rules from today, so that travelers from other countries can easily enter the UK. Indian citizens were already allowed entry into the UK. After the new rules, now Indians who have taken both doses of Covishield will no longer need to stay in quarantine upon reaching Britain from today.
Britain’s High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis said, “From October 11, Indian travelers going to the UK will not need to be in quarantine who have received both doses of Covishield or any other UK-approved vaccine.” Now going to UK will be easy. This is a good news. Thanks to the Government of India for the close cooperation during the last month.’
In its latest travel guidelines, Britain said the ‘red list’ would be limited to seven countries and that proof of vaccination from 37 new countries and territories, including India, would be recognized from 4am on Monday. According to the new guidelines, the British government has expanded the vaccination delivery system to 37 countries and territories around the world, including India, South Africa and Turkey. The announcement came hours after India had earlier said it was hopeful of finding a solution to the vaccine certification controversy.
Let us tell you that the British government had issued new rules a few days ago. It was said in these rules that a person arriving in Britain after traveling from some other countries including India will have to stay in quarantine for 10 days and also have to undergo a test of Covid-19. Not only this, those who have taken both the doses of the vaccine were also made mandatory to remain in quarantine. India had strongly objected to this rule and said that it is a discriminatory rule.
