New Year’s Celebration Bans in Germany

Germany has also become cautious in view of the rapid spread of new variants of Corona. The government has imposed several restrictions to keep people safe from Omicron infection, to prevent the spread of Omicron. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said the country was facing a fifth wave. The highly contagious Omicron variant has spread worldwide.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz also announced several new measures to prevent infection.

  • Nightclubs and Dance Venues to remain closed from 28th December
  • From December 28, big events in the country will no longer be held with the audience. This especially applies to football games.
  • Trying to avoid big celebrations on New Years. Only 10 people who have taken the vaccine in private parties will be able to gather.
  • The sale of firecrackers has been banned.
  • Unvaccinated people will be allowed to mingle with only two people from another household. However, this rule will not apply to children up to 14 years of age.
  • Special emphasis is being given on vaccination and booster dose.

Earlier, the RKI had issued recommendations for maximum contact restrictions, along with other steps like stopping non-essential travel and extending school holidays. However, the government has denied any kind of lockdown in the country for the time being. Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he expected the German people to act responsibly and carefully over the Christmas period
