Nirav Modi pleaded to stop extradition

Nirav Modi, the prime accused in the PNB scam and fugitive diamond businessman, has now approached the British High Court. He has approached the High Court to stop extradition. Nirav Modi has sought to challenge the decision of the lower court of London in the High Court of Britain. In February this year, the London lower court approved the extradition of Nirav Modi to India. Fugitive Modi has sought permission to challenge the extradition order in the High Court.

The extradition of Nirav Modi was approved by the Westminster Magistrate Court in London on 25 February. The UK Home Department gave permission for the extradition of Nirav Modi after getting information about the decision of the British court. Diamond businessman Nirav Modi, along with his maternal uncle Mehul Choksi, is accused of cheating Punjab National Bank for Rs 13,000 crore. On January 2018, PNB lodged an FIR against Nirav and his associates in India, but before that Nirav Modi absconded from here.
