Pfizer company of America is ready to provide 50 million vaccines to India this year but it wants a big relaxation in some regulatory conditions including compensation.
Pfizer has said that one crore vaccines will be made available to India in July, one crore in August and two crore in September and one crore in October. The company has said that it will only talk to the Government of India and will have to pay the vaccines to Pfizer India on behalf of the Government of India.
The Government of India will have to do the work of distributing the purchased vaccine domestically. Pfizer has also placed a condition of agreement with the Government of India for the supply of the vaccine to India and has sent its documents.
According to Pfizer, it has entered into compensation agreements with 116 countries, including the US. So far, 147 million doses of Pfizer vaccine have been given worldwide. At present, no significant side effects have been reported from anywhere.
